In celebration of Get Online Week 2023, we have launched our very own digital support finder as part of our ongoing aim, to help people get online
We have brought together information on organisations who offer digital support to their local communities, to provide those in need of digital help and advice a handy tool to find what’s available in their area. The map shows venues that offer:
- Access to devices
- Access to connectivity
- Support with digital skills
This is a small demonstration of the support that is currently available in County Durham, and we encourage every organisation who supports those who are digitally excluded to join our platform so we can help raise awareness of their services. We have presented our platform to internal and external teams who directly work with residents as a tool to enable them to signpost to the organisations on our support finder.
Our directory was born from our own experience of searching for help when it comes to access to devices, data and digital skills within the County and believe that as we grow the platform, we will raise awareness not only of what services are available but also the importance of being digitally included in day-to-day life and the challenges faced by those who are digitally excluded.
What can you find on our digital support finder?
There are currently 70 venues who offer a mixture of support including.
- Free public Wi-Fi
- Free data
- Free computer use
- Device loan scheme
- Support to do something online
- Help to improve digital skills
The portal is designed to be a signposting gateway to these organisations with all information to their online profile, opening hours and contact information included on our finder and available at the click of a mouse.
