Digital Employability Programme Empowers Over 50s to Thrive in Today’s Job Market
Durhamlearn are bringing their free 6-week Digital Employability Programme (three hours per week) which begins Monday 9th March to two community venues in the East of Durham:

Shotton Hall Community Hub, Bridge Road, Shotton Colliery DH6 2PQ
This programme is designed specifically for Jobcentre customers who are over 50 and wish to grow their confidence, build digital skills, and feel ready to explore new job opportunities. Participants can join the location most convenient for them, with friendly support available throughout the programme.
Why This Programme Matters
For many people over 50, digital tools, online applications, and modern recruitment methods can feel overwhelming. This programme is designed to remove barriers, build confidence, and help individuals reconnect with work in a supportive, relaxed environment.
Across six weekly sessions, participants will:
- Improve digital and communication skills
- Create CVs and cover letters using online tools
- Understand today’s job market
- Learn how to stay safe online
- Build healthier routines and access essential NHS digital services
- Gain confidence to navigate the modern world of work
Each session includes two hours of structured learning plus an optional one‑hour one‑to‑one support period for personalised guidance. By the final week, learners will have practical experience using their new skills, and a clearer understanding of today’s job market empowering them to move forward with renewed motivation and improved opportunities.
