Phase 1

Phase 1 delivery of the Digital Durham programme finished in September 2016. By the end of the contract, more than 89,000 residents and business across the programme area were able to access superfast broadband with minimum download speeds of 24 Mbps.

The areas detailed in pink in the map below provide an indication of the postcodes that were upgraded under this phase of the programme. The map is not accurate to property level and some postcodes will have partial superfast coverage.

Follow the step by step guide on our Go Faster page to check if you can upgrade to superfast broadband.

Contact 1 Broadband Delivery - Map that shows how the programme area is classified in terms of Next Generation Access broadband. It shows where our programme has invested in superfast broadband infrastructure during our contract one deployment (April 2013 to September 2016). This map also indicates where commercial organisations where already delivering superfast broadband. The map also shows local authority boundaries.

Supporting information

The map is not accurate to a property or postcode level and should not be interpreted as such.

Not every property within a ‘pink’ area will be able to obtain superfast broadband speeds. Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee this for a variety of reasons.

The map is correct at 30 September 2016. It is based on data received as part of an Open Market Review carried out by Durham County Council in October 2012, Public Consultation in November 2012 that followed, and information provided by Openreach (as the Contract 1 supplier) as part of the BDUK framework procurement.
